To begin the hand, each player must make a forced bet (usually an ante or blind bet). The dealer then shuffles the cards and deals them to each player one at a time, starting with the player on their left. Players then place their bets into the central pot.
Once the betting in the first round is complete, the dealer puts three more community cards face-up on the table, called the flop. At this point, players must decide whether to call, raise, or fold.
The highest pair wins ties. If both hands have the same pair, the higher rank of the fifth card determines which hand wins. If there is no pair, then the highest single card wins. If the high card is a jack, then it breaks ties as well. High cards are not used in straights, bluffs, or flushes.
